When we walked on the Moon 2011
Givat Haim Ihud Gallery Curator: Hanush Morag. The ''When we walked on the Moon' paintings were created between April 2010 and April 2011; a year of change, grief and loss. These changes lead to life in a landscape and community different from anything I had known before. We moved from a city to life on a kibbutz. The process of physically and emotionally moving from one life to another, being in constant motion and observing a new space full of history and codes foreign to me, had a great influence on my work. I found a way to become accustomed to the new environment of Kibbutz Evron, where my partner was born and raised, by viewing everything from all angles at once. I sought out what I recognized as familiar in order to help me feel safe. When I saw things that were strange to me, I drew them in an attempt to befriend them. I used metaphors that I feel comfortable with from the kitchen space so I could to recover a sense of belonging and self. This exhibition was an attempt to remain the observer and not only the one being observed.
